There is a new show out called Steampunk'd. The show is a competition show with "Makers" that are competing for $100,000 Grand Prize. Each week someone will be kicked off until they get to the best of the best from the group. The makers make various items in the genre of Steampunk. Each project is completed by two teams. They will then complete a room in the empty "Steampunk House". I love that the judges wear steampunk, but really that even the hostess wears steampunk as well.
Season one's judges are:
Matt King

Steampunk is seen as a retro-futuristic design. It is a mixture of 19th century industrial steam-powered machinery. Most of the time people do 19th century British Victorian, but it is very much not limited there.
In this episode they were asked to build a kitchen as well as a Rube Goldberg device. A Rube Goldberg device is a contraption that is over engineered to do a simple task. Some examples would be in Flubber the movie with Robin Williams, and Wallace and Gromit, but also from games like Mouse Trap.
While I was looking for more information on the contestants I found a blog post that covers in great detail about the episodes. It is a great post if you want to see what the show was about, missed something, or just want a recap of what happened without watching the episode again. There will be spoilers if you haven't seen the episode yet. I didn't want to copy the post but I did use it to keep some of my basic information updated. This is the post by the Airship Ambassador.
To keep up with the episode of the show I decided to include my own kitchen and outfit. It isn't the best steampunk, and I don't have my machine, but it was fun to come up with something on the fly that might work, as The Future is the Past.
